Collaboration & Advocacy

  • October 13, 2020
  • Advocacy, Collaboration, Connection, Intergovernmental collaboration, Networking

Over the course of September and October, the Hunter JO has been invited to participate and engage in a range of workshops, webinars and regional forums in line with our strategic priorities of advocacy and collaboration. Through connecting with different networks and partners across the region and beyond, we can deliver greater collaborative outcomes for the Hunter.

Our CEO Joe James will be speaking at the Executive Insights Seminar on Regional Liveability on 4 November. This webinar will focus on ‘Future Proofing the Regions’ in the areas of sustainability and success, talent retention, competitive destinations and collaboration. Other speakers will address:

  • Key drivers of regional liveability and attraction
  • Regional evolution – managing change
  • Catalytic change and the role of infrastructure investment
  • The need to think multi-regionally

Steve Wilson, Director – Regional Policy & Programs spoke at the HunterNET Infrastructure and Asset Forum on 14 October. Steve’s presentation focused on development of a Hunter JO Infrastructure Priority List (a project currently in development), recent advocacy focused on attracting resources for shovel ready local council projects, and the JO Board’s recent commitment to pursue a collaborative regional approach to Circular Economy procurement. Strong interest was shown in the initiatives and a range of feedback provided that will inform their ongoing design and development.

Tim Askew – Regional Policy & Program Manager presented to the World Circular Economy Forum on 8 October. Further information on this forum can be found HERE on our website.
