Smartphone Film Training

Smartphone Film Training for Communication and Education staff

  • March 23, 2021

The Hunter JO held a Smartphone Filming Masterclass this month, with Treehouse Creative, as an opportunity to build Communications capacity within our member councils.

With video as a key tool and medium for engagement on social media, the class focused on how staff can capture great video whenever and wherever they are. This then enables a wide range of staff to use readily available hardware and technology, to develop video as a resource to support local community awareness, education and engagement programs.

The training was held on 4 March 2021, with a range of staff participating from across eight of our member councils. The workshop received incredibly positive feedback, with some examples included below;

  • “I like the scope of the learning, valuable insights to use on your smart phone straight up and the insight into the potential value for councils for saving time and money on very expensive equipment.”
  • “I learnt a lot about the storytelling side, which will be useful not just for producing smartphone content but all of our communications.”
  • “It was awesome! The full image capturing capability of my smartphone was something I’d always wondered about but never had the time or inclination to properly investigate. It was great to really focus in on that and be enlightened by the potential. As a comms professional I definitely feel more empowered to seek out opportunities for storytelling knowing I always have a device on me that can facilitate it just as powerfully as a DSLR.”

The training was delivered as part of the Small Acts, Big Change Program. To find out more about the Small Acts, Big Change Program, click here.
